tax season 2023 is open

In the United States the new Tax Season is starting on January 1, 2023 with the following important dates during the year. Take note so you don't forget:

  • March 15, 2023 - Income Tax Filing Deadline for LLCs (Partnership) with two or more partners;
  • March 15, 2023 - S-Corporation Income Tax filing deadline;
  • March 15, 2023 - Deadline for requesting a 06-month extension on LLC (Partnership) and S-Corporation income tax filing.
  • April 18, 2023 - Deadline for filing Individual and Corporate Income Taxes.
  • April 18, 2023 - Deadline for requesting a 06-month extension in the filing of Individual and Corporate Income Tax.
  • September 15, 2023 - Income Tax Filing Deadline for LLC (Partnership) companies of two or more partners that have an approved extension request.
  • October 16, 2023 - Deadline for Individuals and Corporation Taxes that have an approved extension request.

Despite the tax filing deadlines, the IRS encourages businesses and individuals to file their returns early in the year so as not to overload the system with last-minute filing, and so that individuals can quickly receive their refunds from the government of credits and other payments withheld and eligible for refund by the IRS.

It is important to remember that foreign persons must also file a FBAR (Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts) return if they have checking accounts over $10,000 outside the United States. This return must be filed on the same date as the Personal or Corporate Income Tax.

  2. I just received a form from the USA, I believe it is for a tax return, first, I have no connection to the United States, so why are they sending me this form?

    1. Hi Carlos, how are you? I don't know which form you are referring to, but it might be Form 1042-S. If it is Form 1042-S, it is normal that American companies or banks issue this form to foreigners because they receive some income from the USA. There is no need for you to do anything else if this is the case, this document is only to inform you of amounts received by you. However, if you have had a significant amount of income tax withheld, please contact us to see if we can help you get a refund.
